Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 4 clasps, Tugela Heights, Relief of Ladysmith, Transvaal, Laing's Nek (1402 Pte. E. Pleass, Impl: Lt. Infy.), unofficial rivets between first and second clasps, worn overall

Edward Pleass was born on 23 March 1868 at Gosport, Hampshire and joined the Royal Artillery on 10 May 1890, with whom he served until 28 July 1892. He thence joined the British South Africa Police and served in Rhodesia in 1896 (Medal). During the Boer War he served with Menne's Scouts, the Imperial Light Infantry and Steinaecker's Horse (November 1901-February 1903). Throughout his career he is noted as having falsely enlisted and his poor character appeared.
