Queen's South Africa 1899-1902, 3 clasps, Cape Colony, Orange Free State, Transvaal (9783 Gnr: P. R. Olverson, R Bty., R.H.A.), one or two edge bruises, good very fine

Peter Read Olverson was born at Liverpool in 1870 and joined the Royal Artillery on 5 June 1895. During the Boer War he served in the Pompom Section in South Africa from 24 October 1899-30 May 1903. He was slightly wounded at Basberg on 16 February 1902 (Queen's Medal & 3 clasps, King's Medal & 2 clasps).

By 1911, Olverson was a dock worker living at Penrose Street, Everton and at the outbreak of the Great War re-enlisted in the Royal Artillery. Serving overseas in France from 19 May 1915, he had added an M.M. to his laurels by War's end (1914-15 Star Trio).
