Volunteer Force Long Service Medal, E.VII.R. (2062 Sjt. A. E. Piper 2/V.B.Oxford L.I.), minor wear, very fine

Albert Edward Piper was born at Oxford in October 1870 to Matthew and Harietta Piper. Piper was working the same job as his father by 1891, as a College Messenger. He married Mabel Louise Stone on 27 November 1899 having been promoted to College Servant. It is possible he met his intended as a result of his reservist connection since his Father-in-Law's profession is listed as 'Sergeant-Major'. Regardless Piper was awarded his Long Service medal in January 1909. He died on 18 March 1943 at 38 Regent Street, Oxford.
