William Sheppard entered the war in France on the 11 September 1914 with the 1st Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment, later promoted Acting Sergeant with the 7th Battalion, Gloucestershire Regiment. Noted on M.I.C. as being entitled to clasp and roses.
