William Daniel Howe served with the Army Service Corps in France from 24 June 1916 until transferring to 19th Battalion, London Regiment on 8 September 1916. Thence posted to Salonika on 1 December 1916 and finally to South West Africa on 12 June 1917, Howe remained here until 11 November 1918.
