William George Edwin Dukes was born at Watford on 21 August 1895. Enlisting with the 3rd County of London Yeomanry on 22 November 1915 at St. John's Wood he was transferred to 4th (Home Counties) Howitzer Brigade, Royal Field Artillery (T.F.) on 25 February 1916. He was married at Hendon in 1916 to a Miss Smith. Having served on the Home Front and being promoted Acting Bombardier on 11 January 1917, Dukes transfered to 4th Reserve Brigade, RFA and entered the War in France on 28 December 1917. While here he was promoted Bombardier on 27 March 1919. Dukes was demobilised on 21 June 1919 and died in 1976; sold together with handwritten notes, service records and registry information.
