Percy Humphreys was born in 1883. Enlisting at Seaforth Barracks, Liverpool, with the Royal Lancashire Regiment on 3 November 1915 he was promoted Acting Corporal on 3 August 1916 and joined the war in France on 25 November. Reposted to the 7th Battalion, Royal Lancashire Regiment on 18 December 1916 he remained with this unit until 10 February 1917 when he was admitted to Hospital. Transferring to the Labour Corps on 15 December 1917 with the rank of Labourer he was again promoted Acting Corporal on 12 October 1918. Humphreys was demobilised on 9 November 1919.
