Victory Medal 1914-19 (J.43626 J. Spiller. Boy 1 R.N.), verdigris, very fine
Walter John Spiller was the son of John and Naomi Spiller of Bridgwater, Somerset. He was killed by an internal explosion aboard Vanguard on 9 July 1917 at Scapa Flow, aged just 17. This devastating accident killed 843 of the crew with only two men surviving. Spiller is commemorated upon the Chatham Naval Memorial.
