A Great War D.C.M. to Sapper J. Leadbeater, 182 Company Royal Engineers

Distinguished Conduct Medal, G.V.R., (144830 Sapr J. Leadbeater. 182/Coy R.E.), polished, good fine

D.C.M. London Gazette 3 March 1917. The original recommendation states:

'For conspicuous gallantry in action. Accompanied by a serjeant, he crawled to the sap-head of a mine shaft and went down. After two hours' work, they succeeded in rescuing a wounded man, and brought him safely back to our lines. He has previously done fine work.'

Sapper James Leadbeater is additionally entitled to a 1914-15 Star trio and Silver War Badge, and was discharged on 22 July 1916. Sold with copied research.
