Royal Christmas Cards
1935 Christmas and New Year folded card (160x195mm) signed "Elizabeth" and "Albert" by the Duke and Duchess of York, with "1936" and "from" in the hand of the Duke. Their crest appears on the front cover. The card wishes the recipient good wishes for the coming year 1936, in which they unexpectedly became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth following the abdication of King Edward VIII. The card has a sepia photograph of The Royal Lodge, Windsor Great Park, laid down. The signature of the Duchess of York is unusually a rubber stamp as she was indisposed at the time the cards were signed. With the original envelope addressed in the hand of the Duke of York to "The Rev F.J. Stone" and initialled "A".
