1840 ALS written from India House enquiring as to the availability of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fox to "spend an evening in Kennington".
John Stuart Mill (1865-1868), British philosopher who at the time of writing worked in the British East India Company Political Department.
Charles James Fox MP (1749-1806) became Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs between 1782-1806 and held a prominent career within the Whig parliament notable for his radical opposition to King George III for his role in oppressing American Patriots. Fox became equally notable for his colourful private life, indulging in various vices.
