Great Britain
Queen Catherine of Braganza
1676 (27 June) Exemplification of Common Recovery with portrait of Queen Catherine between a Mr. Richard Bellings and a Mr. Doworth. Document with two, seemingly deliberate holes to the body. Signed at the top of the sheet "Catherine R". Wax seal sadly not present but with suspender. Rare with her portrait and rarer still signed as such.

Notes: Born in Portugal 1638-1705, Queen of England, Scotland and Ireland 1662-1685 as wife of King Charles II. Catherine struggled during her time in England as a Roman Catholic and was the subject of attacks by those involved in the Popish Plot. Titus Oates had gone so far as to accuse her of poisoning the King. As such she was never crowned as Queen Consort.
