1856 (24 Sept.) envelope to Lyon bearing 1854-59 1/- pale red single and pair (good to large margins all round) with 1856-59 (6d.) vermilion and Prussian blue registered stamp (touched to very large margins, small part covered by other adhesive) cancelled by dumb barred ovals and a very fine strike of "registered/sydney n.s.w." dated oval in red, with manuscript "6" in black ink and "3/3" in red ink; London markings of the first type open oval "registered/g.p.o." (31.12), tall crown/"registered" and "PD" in circle, all in red and French "chargé" and Calais transit in black, the reverse with French transit and arrival (2.1) c.d.s., there are marks where the French registration wax seal have been removed.
