1841 (11 Nov.) stampless entire to "Frederick M. Luberman, Botanist of Denmark ..." bearing a fine strike of the handstruck "Registered/edinburgh" (A&H 1487) in red (a very early date, A&H records this being used from 1842 to the 1850's) with the Edinburgh despatch below and with manuscript "2/" in red ink. Clean and attractive.

A highly important entire being the earliest transatlantic registered cover. Peter Holcombe Certificate (1999)

A long postscript written on the reverse confirms the news of a birth of a son (future King Edward VII) to Queen Victoria; she was related directly by marriage to the Royal House of Denmark, hence the remark, "for our dear little Denmark"
