1863 (28 Nov.) printed envelope to New York per "'Canada' Via Queenstown", marked "Registered" in magenta ink and bearing 2d. blue plate 9, 1862-64 4d. pale red and 1/- green tied by "466" numeral and unframed large "R" in black, with standard-type Liverpool registered dated oval code "D", "n. york br pkt/paid 36" c.d.s. (14.12) with some rate and registration markings. A good cover and early use of the plain "R" handstamp

From 31st March 1860 the Cunard packets changed their sailing route from Liverpool to Halifax and Boston to leave from Queenstown in southern Ireland. This change make a saving of about 24 hours in transit times
