1858 (20 May) opened-out envelope to London bearing imperf. 30c. brown and 45c. blue (3) tied by Padova datestamps (although there is no sign of it, it is assumed that at further adhesive had become detached), handstamped "raccom" in black, "chargé" in red with unframed "P.D.", transits via Paris and Calais with London Paid c.d.s. (25.5) and a good strike of the rare Foreign Branch "france/registered" around crown. Some minor peripheral soiling, a very good cover with the original letter. Ferchenbauer Certificate (2002)

Pays 7kr. from Austria to the French border plus 11kr. from France to the UK; plus registration of 6kr. for Austria plus 11kr. for France, making a total of 35kr. or 175c.
