1861 (30 Mar.) small envelope to Paris bearing pair of 2d. blue plate 8 and 1855-57 4d. rose-red (trimmed wing margin) tied by London District "W/16" barred oval, marked "Registered" and numbered "108" with a good strike of the London thin crowned "registered" (W&J 1133), standard-type oval London registered dated oval code "E", "P.D." in oval and French "chargé" all in red plus Calais transit c.d.s.; the reverse with London c.d.s., Paris arrival (31.3) and a boxed French charge handstamp with manuscript insertion. Some of the flaps are missing but still a charming cover

Pays 4d. postage and 4d. registration. An interesting example where the registration rate abroad was less than inland
