1878 (1 Jan.) 2d. printed registered envelope (type RP2 (G)b) to London, uprated with 2d. blue plate 15 tied by Malvern duplex with a fair strike of the standard London registered dated oval code "PH", further despatch duplex and Birmingham c.d.s. on the reverse. Some light wrinkling does not detract from this important postal stationery cover. Used on the day of issue, this is the only recorded RP2 envelope used on the first day
