Black Plates: Plate 11; 1841 (5 May) entire to Edinburgh bearing plate 11 LH and RH (generally good to large even margins, one just touched in one corner) cancelled by neat black Maltese Cross, marked "50 registered" and "1/-" in red ink with London Paid tombstone despatch alongside, the reverse with Edinburgh arrival (7.5). The wax seal has been cut off the reverse but a charming and attractive cover, free from the usual filing creases.


This is the earliest recorded 1d. red-brown registered cover and the only one bearing an example of plate 11
