1856 (4 Nov.) entire letter from Singapore to Carlowitz & Co. in Canton per "Str 'Miri'", rated "1/4" and bears India 1854 4a. blue and red fourth printing (head III, frame II, cut to shape), the adhesive is uncancelled and there is a repaired patch to the cover next to it. The Hong Kong transit (4.11) is well struck on the flap. Horizontal and vertical filing creases, clear of the adhesive. Manuscript notation indicates that this letter was posted on 17th October and received on 4th November, probably at their Hong Kong office and not Canton. A striking cover which is offered on its merits

Although Canton had not been blockaded yet there were many disruptions to the postal service between Hong Kong and Canton at this time


1856年11月4日星加坡經"Miri" 汽輪及經香港寄廣州Carlowitz & Co., 遞送費"1/4", 及貼1854年藍紅色印度4a 票 (依票形修剪), 但該票並没蓋銷. 封舌上蓋11月4日香港中轉戳; 由於戰事自11月初由香港至廣州寄遞已暫停, 本函由星星加坡於10月17日寄出, 抵香港郵局時是11月4日, 因此只好轉遞至Carlowitz & Co. 的香港分公司, 因而手寫紀錄收件日同為11月4日.
