1869 (Apr.) soldiers envelope "From John Clouies Seaman H.M. Ship Anegaera Rio de Janeiro South America" to a brother Corporal Thomas Cloues of the 84th. Regiment at Newcastle, Kingston, countersigned by the Commanding Officer, carried to London and bearing G.B. 1d. rose-red cancelled with indistinct numeral, then forwarded to Jamaica, Kingston datestamp (22.5) on reverse. A most unusual routing for a soldiers concessionary rate cover. Photo
