Note: On 5 February 1890 De La Rue received a requisition for 1d. and 2d. Official stamps, utilising the old postage stamp plates overprinted. On 7 February De La Rue pointed out that such plates had been destroyed on the instructions of the Crown Agents, at the same time forwarding the suggestion offered in the above lot to meet the Colonial Government's requirements, printing the 1d. in red and the 2d. in grey in singly-fugitive ink. The suggestion was approved on 10 February 1890
