1870 (May) printed illustrated envelope from "James Gall, M.A., Special Correspondent of the Press in Kingston, Jamaica. Kindly Favoured by the Purser" to the Editor of "The Family Herald" in London, bearing 1d. pale blue cancelled "A01" and showing light strike of the Kingston framed "ship letter" SL10 handstamp, upon arrival in the U.K. showing "paid/liverpool/ship" tombstone datestamp for 6 June cancelled with "466" numeral obliterator and with a further strike of the Ship Letter datestamp for 7 June, and Paid London Ship Letter datestamp (8.6), all four in red, two London datestamps (8.6) on reverse. A rare and most attractive item of advertising mail. Photo
