Auction: 21041 - The "Dubois" Collection of Jamaica Postal History and Stamps - Part II
Lot: 155

Mail to Canada
1852 (22 July) single rate entire letter from Providence Estate, St. James and 1853 (21 Apr.) double rate entire letter from Water Valley Estate, Trelawny, both ex the same correspondence to Toronto, the first "via Steamship to New York" however sent via St. Thomas and Halifax, an ambiguous address of both Quebec and Toronto ensuring that the letter was forwarded between the two, the second, variously rated and handstamped with Paid, More To Pay and other handstamps though as addressed to a member of the Legislative council no further charges appear to have been applied. A fascinating pair, full of character. Photo
