1886 (6 Mar.) envelope from Dr. Emil Holub, explorer of southern and central Africa, registered to London, posted in Zeerust bearing 1885 Vurtheim 1d. (20), 2d. (10) and 3d. (2), all cancelled "8" in concentric rings, showing despatch c.d.s., "T" h.s. with red crayon "2/6", red arrival d.s. and, on reverse, Potchefstroom and Returned Letter Office Cape Town datestamps; the stamps stained and/or damaged and the envelope edges strengthened using other paper and stamp selvedge. Despite the faults a most remarkable franking. Photo
