1867 (16 Dec.) entire to Cape Town, marked "prepaid to Colesberg", showing fine "potchefstroom/g.p.k./z.a.r." 30mm. c.d.s. with manuscript "6" alongside and arrival datestamp (6.1). A fine and rare early cover. Photo

Note: The sender probably paid 1/-, comprising 6d. Z.A.R. inland rate and 6d. Orange Free State transit rate. Payment of the latter has been recorded by a smaal figure "6" written in pencil at the upper left of the face panel. The larger figure "6" written in black records that the addressee was required to pay 6d., the Cape rate for an unpaid letter.
