1872 (Oct.) double weight envelope from Bloemfontein to the Consul-General of the Orange Free State in Washington headed "On Service Govt O.F.S.", bearing Cape of Good Hope 1/- (3, small faults) tied by barred numeral "1", marked "1oz Paid 3/-" at lower left, showing red crayon "2" (confirming weight), "4" accountancy mark and "2/2" accountancy mark for the double rate due to Britain from the Cape Colony, also showing Cape Town (17.10), London Paid (20.11), New York (6.12) and Washington (7.12) datestamps, plus unframed "forwarded" for local redirection.
