Military Mail
Korana Campaign, 1878
1878 envelope to Cape Town, posted at Kenhart, headed "P.A.O.C.V Artillery. Special Service Northern Border" (Prince Alfred's Own Colonial Volunteer Artillery), countersigned by Commanding Officer, showing Kenhart (29.11), Wynberg (5.12) and Cape Town (6.12) datestamps; envelope with tear at top caused through opening. Very rare and believed to be the only known cover from this little known campaign along the orange River. Photo

Note: Kenhart, the most remote white settlement in the Cape at that time, was the base for the Colonial Forces along the Orange River.
