1871 (12 June) envelope from Graaff Reinett to Madeira "To be forwarded by the first vessel which may touch at the Island", bearing 1d. and 4d. (4 with a strip of three) neatly cancelled "18" and with despatch oval d.s. alongside, Cape Town c.d.s. (17.6) and "200" Portuguese rate mark, Funchal c.d.s. (18.7) on reverse; a couple of small imperfections though a most attractive franking to an unusual destination. Photo
