Mail from the Orange Free State
1863 (late Oct.) envelope ex the Hope correspondence from Bloemfontein to England, marked "Per Cape Mail 20 Nov 1863", rated "6", bearing 1855 6d. slate-lilac pair with three clear to large margins, clearly cancelled by slightly heavy triangular obliterator and additionally tied by red crayon "11", showing Paid Devonport Cape Packet c.d.s. (22.12) at top and London Paid c.d.s. (23.12) alongside the pair with, on reverse, Cape Town (9.11) and Birkenhead (23.12) datestamps; the envelope with a couple of minor imperfections.
