Although Bechuanaland Protectorate received their own overprinted stamps on 7 August 1888 the authorities permitted use of British Bechuanaland overprints, either on their own or in combination with Protectorate values, until at least 1932

1890 (28 Sept.) double rate envelope registered to London, bearing British Bechuanaland 1890 2d. vertical pairs (2) and Protectorate 1889 (Aug.) 4d. on ½d. vertical strip of three, all lightly cancelled with "palachwe/khamas town" c.d.s., showing red arrival d.s. (28.10) with, on reverse Cape Town transit d.s.; the envelope a little soiled and with flap missing though a scarce combination franking with the 4d. on ½d. rare on cover. Photo
