Plate 8: PE, PB and PI (PI cut into at top, the others with margins all round), arranged as a strip on long entire letter (no side flaps) to Ludlow, black Maltese Cross cancellations and with Wellington Salop c.d.s. of 8 Sept. 1841 on reverse, endorsed More to pay and with manuscript "4"; vertical filing fold well clear of the adhesives, unusual. The manuscript "4" incorrectly applied as there was no 3d. rate used during the period of the Uniform Id Post, assuming that the cover should have been franked 4d. or possibly 6d. the correct due marking would have been different.
