Great Britain
1840 One Penny Black
Plate II
AK, intense black shade with part inscription at top '...reful not to rem...' tied by black Maltese Cross to 1840 (4 Nov.) entire letter to Kent, endorsed 'pre paid' and with 'portugal street/qd. paid' handstamp part obscured by stamp; upon receipt re-directed to Bedford Row in London for which the 1d. was applied, with further 't.p./eirth' boxed handstamp and on reverse, London arrival datestamp. The usual light filing folds, and the stamp a little touched at right and foot, nevertheless a particularly fine example of an early re-directed cover. Photo
