1833 (25 Nov.) entire letter addressed to "To the Lord Bishop of Norwich/Norwich" re-addressed to Hereford St. London, superb red (Crown) free datestamp, on reverse markings of Bungay and Norwich. The letter is from Francis Sarah Barlee and is a dispute over ownership/use of a pew in her Parish Church. Francis was estranged from her husband Charles with whom she had numerous disputes and future conflicts. She was imprisoned in Ipswich Gaol for refusing to return to her husband. A fascinating window into the past
