1912 (7 May) envelope ex the Montgomery Ward correspondence from Penkridge to Chicago, bearing 1d. carmine-lake Plate A strip of three, [1-3], each cancelled with double-ring datestamp showing blank before day, firm's arrival datestamp (3.6) towards foot, Umtali transit datestamp (2.5 date error) on reverse. A unique and most attractive franking, these three strikes being the only recorded examples of this postmark with blank before day. Considered to be most imporatnt 1d. cover. Photo
