RSC "G", variant, (Dark) greenish slate and (deep scarlet), the so-called "Scarlets", Hook printing
Unplated, deep scarlet heads, the frame plate printed over a wood chip inclusion to the right of the Queen's hair which was later dislodged during the printing of the head plate, the resulting vacant space subsequently being overprinted by the frame plate, lightly mounted mint. A superb example of this rare shade. Photo
