1842 (22 Dec.) entire letter from U.S.A. to Mandeville Post Office "via Baltimore per the first vessel" bearing a light strike of Salem despatch c.d.s. in blue, the flap bearing manuscript "forwarded by Masons Co" in blue ink with Kingston arrival c.d.s, (21.1) alongside; the address side with additional "paid" of the despatch office, "10" rate mark and a very fine strike of "jamaica/ship letter" type SL5 (a very early date for this); some internal paper splitting, a clean and attractive letter
