1885 (c.) sailor's envelope from "Thos Hings, Writer, HMS "Daring", Singapore" to Kent, countersigned by the Commanding Officer and bearing CA 2c. carmine remaining uncancelled and with large "3d" handstamp below, no other markings and believed to have been carried in the closed military bag by P&O and upon arrival the franking deemed to be invalid and with the 3d. due mark applied; highly unusual.
