1821 (31 Oct.) entire letter from Dr. Willian Jack at Fort Marlborough, Bencoolen to his sister in Aberdeen, variously rated and showing two indistinct Ship Letter? handstamps, framed Additional "½", arrival datestamp (26.4) on face and a further datestamp (24.4) on reverse; the contents describe a trip to interior of Sumatra, to the headwaters of the Silebar River and a ceremony of welcome from the Sirawi tribe. A very rare early letter from the area. Photo
