1858 (21 Apr.) envelope from Ararat to Switzerland, bearing Woodblock imperf 6d. pair and single (both with small faults) clearly tied by Barred Numeral "43", showing manuscript "1/-" and "Detained for Postage" both in red ink, the latter partly obscured by single 6d., circular-framed "pd", London and Calais transit c.d.s. (both additionally tying the single 6d.) and, on reverse, superb oval-framed "From/j.e. dobson's library/mt ararat" in blue, despatch, Melbourne and arrival datestamps. A rare and splendid franking.
