1866 (17 Dec.) entire letter to Chancery Lane, on reverse a good strike of the extremely rare first type Bishop mark, the entire very clearly dated and signed; fine. A rare survivor, written shortly after the Great Fire of London. The Post Office was burnt down during the fire and few such letters were sent at this time. It is thought that only five have survived
