Plate 52, ID, large margins and showing portions of adjoining stamps on three sides, with enclosure, sent by the eminent British Statesman (and later Prime Minister) William Ewart Gladstone to the Rev. W.A. Butler, Professor of Moral Philosophy, University of Dublin; Gladstone cordially thanks Butler "for the able statement on my behalf which you have addressed to the Dublin Evening Mail" and with interesting comments regarding the Political and Religious situation in Ireland at the time. A rare, important and immaculate letter
