AU53 | George I (1714-1727), Five-Guineas, 1726 DECIMO TERTIO, 'J type 1', falling 2 and hook-tailed 7 in date, GEORGIVS • D'G • M • BR • FR • ET • HIB • REX • F • D •, laureate head right, plain truncation, rev., 26 • BRVN' ET • L • DVX • S • R • I • A • TH ' ET • EL • 17, pellet stop between A and TH, crowned shields cruciform incorporating Arms of Hanover, semée of six hearts, nine strings to Irish harp, emblem-adorned sceptres in angles, |DECVS • ET • TVTAMEN • ANNO REGNI • DECIMO • TERTIO • on edge upwards, regular D but all Ns inverted [sic], 41.92g, 5h (King 155 this coin; Stratos 197; Schneider II, 542; MCE 241; EGC 498; Spink 3626), a progressive die flaw through 6 giving the semblance of a 6 over 4 'overdate', with a trace of flecking and a scuff in second quarter, otherwise hints of orange tone, very fine, a date and reign seldom offered at auction, in NGC holder, graded AU53 (Cert. #6135246-011)
