The 1st Battalion, 1st (King George's Own) Gurkha Rifles (The Malaun Regiment) arrived in France in late 1914 where it served throughout 1915 before being redeployed to Mesopotamia and thereafter to Palestine in 1918 before returning to India at the end of 1919.
