William George Soutter attested in the Rhodesia Regiment at Gwelo on 22 August 1915 and served with NORFORCE, earning a 'mention' from General Northey (London Gazette 25 September 1917, refers) during the campaign. He had been drawing extra pay as a Lewis Gunner from 2 August 1917. Soutter left Zomba on leave from the East African theatre on 28 March 1918 and was discharged as medically unfit at Salisbury on 28 June 1918; sold with copied service records.
