Gds.), pierced with double ring suspension, regimentally impressed naming; Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., small letter reverse (4984 Danl. Dew. Grenr. Guards), first with unofficial rivets, contact marks, very fine (3)

Daniel Dew was born at Guildford, Surrey in 1826. He married Sarah Lamb in 1852 and had a child whilst living at Chelsea in 1854. Having been widowed, he served with the 3rd Battalion, Grenadier Guards in the Crimea. He was married to Ann Nice, the widow of Guardsman David Nice, Coldstream Guards in June 1862. Dew died in November 1868 in London; sold together with typed biography.
