Thomas Muir, joined the Royal Army Medical Corps in France on 23 July 1915. He won his Military Medal in early 1918, while serving with 61 Field Ambulance. At the time this unit was serving the 20 (Light) Division, a formation which faced heavy fighting during the last years of the war - most notably at the Third Battle of Ypres, the Battle of Cambrai and the Hundred Days Offensive. He was discharged to the Reserve on 23 January 1919. Retired to Sauchie, Scotland.
