British War Medal 1914-20 (9586 Pte. H. King. R.D.C.), very fine and rare to unit
Henry King served as a Private with the Royal Defence Corps "To carry out duties connected with the local defence of the United Kingdom...", the British War Medal being his sole entitlement other than a Silver War Badge (No. 389531). King enlisted in October 1914 and was discharged on 11 May 1918; he is noted as having served overseas a mere two days during October 1916 and it is likely sickness resulted in both such a short posting and his award of the aforementioned S.W.B. Sold with copied roll extracts confirming entitlements.
