China 1842 (Samuel Powell. 26th Regiment Foot.), ex-brooch mounted, silver straight-bar suspension re-affixed, nearly very fine

Samuel Powell was born at Meerut and enlisted into the 26th Foot at that place. He arrived in China on 31 July 1840 and died at sea whilst on passage to Edinburgh on 21 April 1843; sold with letter from the Public Record Office, dated 13 May 1965, confirming the above details.
