Anglo-Saxon England, Secondary Series (710-760), Sceat, Series L, type 19 variety, London, diademed and draped bust left, smooth folds, horizontal centrally, vertical at shoulders, large eye, long nose from brow, three unknotted wreath ties, elaborate cross pommée left, rev. Figure standing in crescent boat, head right, wearing cynehelm and robe with pellets either side of hem, long cross left with trefoil base, bird right, 0.98g, 90° (SL 33-100 plate coin; Abramson, 2012b, Fig 1a; SCBI 69, 480 this coin; T&S 335; Gannon 95-7, Fig. 3.20c; North 73; Spink 804G plate coin), the reverse off-struck and a hint of porosity, otherwise dark tone, almost extremely fine and of quite exquisite style, very rare
